Arts in Education Programs

“Do we really need the arts? To create, one must first imagine; to imagine, one must first learn to see, to listen, to feel, to perceive. Music and the arts are the cornerstone of education in the broadest sense. They open our eyes and ears, develop and transform us personally, bond us emotionally with others, and offer a universal bridge of understanding in a troubled world. John F. Kennedy said it best: ‘The life of the arts, far from being an interruption, a distraction, in the life of a nation, is very close to the center of a nation’s purpose…and is a test of the quality of a nation’s civilization.'”
Mary Ann Stewart

Self-introduction

Each program for students listed below is performance-based with pre- and post-program activities designed to introduce basic concepts, maximize the performance experience and consolidate the learning. Each program takes place over 3 different class periods: Session 1 for pre-program activities, Session 2 for the performance and Session 3 for post-program activities. I hope you will find something here that will fit the needs and profile of your students and school, add that special zest to your curriculum, and unlock the creative imagination of your students.
